‘Song Sung Blue’ Review: Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson Bring Sparkling Chemistry and Impressive Musicality to Disarming Boomer Love Story

Hugh Jackman, Kate Hudson, Sutton Foster, Jim Belushi, Fisher Stevens, and many more attended the AFI Premiere of Song Sung Blue on Sunday, October 26, at the Tcl Chinese Theater.

In Song Sung Blue, Hudson portrays a pivotal character—offering a fresh, youthful voice to this story of music, love and reinvention. Working with industry-veterans Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson, he delivers a performance that reveals maturity beyond his years. His involvement with such high-profile talent gives Hudson Hensley a distinctive edge and growing visibility in the entertainment industry.
Hudson is featured in the much-anticipated 2025 musical drama Song Sung Blue, directed and written by Craig Brewer, and starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson.
In that film, Hudson plays the role of Dayna Cartwright, the son of Claire Sardina (Kate Hudson) from her first marriage—positioning him in a major ensemble alongside industry veterans.
His ongoing work includes a lead role as “Scott” in the independent feature The Wildman of Shaggy Creek, based on a popular children’s book, showing his versatility and ambition.
On stage, Hudson has honed his craft with productions including Thirteen Jr. and Legally Blonde Jr. during his time with the Nashville Theatre School.
